Are social media platforms hiding the most useful engagements insights?

I've been looking deeper into engagement lately, and it completely changed how I judge good performance. Some posts with big reach were basically dead in terms of real interaction, while smaller posts driving way more meaningful engagement.

The biggest thing I noticed was the hidden patterns, like where people lose interest, who keeps coming back, and which content slowly builds momentum over time. After adjusting a few things based on that, results became way more consistent.

Curious how deep you guys go with engagement analysis?

With Instagram getting more restricted over time, I've been wondering whether follower-tracking tools still actually add value for influencer marketing. A few years ago, tracking follow/unfollow patterns and audience changes seemed useful for spotting fake growth or sudden spikes. But now it feels like the focus has shifted more toward engagement quality, content performance, and actual conversions rather than just follower movement. I'm curious how people here see it in 2026. Are follower-tracking insights still part of your workflow at all, or have they become mostly irrelevant compared to engagement metrics and content analytics? What do you rely on now when evaluating influencers?

I've been trying to grow my page for a while now, but I still feel like I'm not really using Instagram analytics effectively. I can see metrics like reach, impressions, saves, shares, and engagement, but I'm not sure which one should actually be prioritized when trying to improve content performance. Sometimes a post gets high reach but very low engagement, and other time it's the opposite, which makes it confusing to understand what's actually working. I also don't fully understand how people interpret follower activity trends or decide the best posting time based on insights. Recently, I've also been curious about tools that track follower changes and show patterns over time, like when people follow or unfollow after specific posts or content types. I'm basically wondering which Instagram metrics which people actually focus on the most for growth, and how they decided what content is performing well beyond just likes and views, whether analytics really driven content decisions or if mostly based on intuition and consistency, and if there's a simple framework that helps separate meaningful data from vanity metrics. Do you think tracking follow/unfollow patterns after individuals posts actually give actionable insight, or is it usually just normal audience fluctuation?
