How do I get myself to play/learn the game?

The title might be a bit weird, but let me try to explain.

I preordered the game and put about 70 hours into it right after release. I played the Ottomans mostly in every run I did. I tried playing other nations, but eventually always went back to the Ottomans. I haven’t really played since then. Well, I tried to, but I always got overwhelmed by all the features and all the new things I had to learn.

I have to say, I love watching gameplay of EU5 and loved EU4 even more (I have about 1.4k hours in EU4 — rookie numbers, I know ). But here’s the thing: in EU4 I always knew what I wanted to do or what I had to do, but with EU5 it feels like I’m being thrown into the open sea (if that somehow makes sense) without any clue what I could or should do next.

I tried playing Byz the other day after seeing a few videos about the DLC, and again, same thing. I booted the game up, played for a solid hour, and then bam — it hits me: “What am I doing? Why am I doing this and not that? Is this what I should do? Is it what Byzantium would have done? Does it make sense to go east, or should I focus on economy? What should I research, and why? What should i build next and so on”

This might just be me, but I genuinely don’t know where to begin learning the game I just get overwhelmed, and I hope I’m not the only one.

If you have any suggestions for countries that are good for properly learning the game, or if you have tutorials that helped you immensely, I’d be happy to check them out.

Thank you for reading, and sorry if this comes off as a stupid rant.
