"Transmission Malfunction"
Hey ladies and gents, I'm hoping that I can get some professional advice and maybe some insight into approx. repair costs.
UK car. It is a 2014 Ford Fiesta Zetec. The engine number is EJ68820, capacity 1596 cc, power level 77 KW/103.5 BHP.
My Fiesta is an automatic transmission and the mileage is approximately 50,095 miles (80,620 km). Petrol. His name is Henry.
When I turn on the engine a warning message pops up saying something along the lines of "transmission malfunction, service now". When I drive the car the gears slip out of place. For instance, if I am going 40 mph (64 km/h) on a long road, it will slip back to first gear if I take my footsy off the accelerator for a bit - the RPM monitor (tachometer) falls down from 3000 or 4000 RPM to 1000 RPM and I have to constantly tap the accelerator pedal or put my foot right to the floor to put it back into gear. I don't like doing the latter though, because it makes a really loud revving noise that pushes the RPM close to the red zone (6000 RPM). Also, if I'm doing 60 or 70 mph (96/112 km/h) shouldn't the RPM be under 4000/4500 RPM?
I've been told that this transmission repair will cost me between £800-£900 ($1065-$1198/€916-€1031). It would just be really helpful to get some impartial information on this.
Please comment or message me if you need any more details on the car - I have everything. Thank you!
