Just lost a friend cause I put “happy men’s mental health awareness month” on my story
For starters, I am a huge ally of the LGBT and would never wish any hate towards them. But as a male with serious mental health problems, I made a post highlighting that it is mmhm. My friend the next morning asked me to take it down and that “just because it’s true doesn’t mean it’s right.” I responded with “I don’t really see the problem.” She then sent me a paragraph on how it could be seen as homophobic, and that June is more about pride and Juneteenth, and lastly that men also have November. She also said something about how June became mmhm, which was along the lines of “some guy got mad that the gays got a whole month and so he dedicated June for men”(her words not mine). I responded with “I don’t really care what other people think about me when it comes to that.” I also asked for proof on the origin of June mmhm, cause was open to believing it if I got a source. But then she said I was just being a jerk and then unadded me. Am I in the wrong, I don’t really understand.
