Looking for advice and experiences regarding a Canadian TRV refusal for my spouse.
I am currently working in Canada on a valid work permit. My work permit has about 11 months remaining, and my TRV is valid until February 2027. I have been working in Canada for 2+ years.
My wife lives in India. We first applied for a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP), which was refused because my work permit did not have sufficient remaining validity of 16 months. Pretty straightforward.
After that, we applied for a Temporary Resident Visa (visitor visa) for her so she could visit me in Canada for a short 3-week trip.
In the application, we included:
Invitation letter from me
Proof of my employment and status in Canada
Approximately CAD 22,000 in available funds from my side
Her bank balance (around INR 1 lakh)
Marriage proof and wedding photos
Letter of explanation addressing the previous SOWP refusal
Travel history, including a completed trip to Indonesia
Unfortunately, the TRV was also refused under IRPR 179(b) with the following reasons:
1.Not satisfied she would leave Canada at the end of her stay
2.Insufficient family ties outside Canada
3.Purpose of visit not consistent with a temporary stay
4. Assets and financial situation insufficient for the stated purpose of travel
A few additional facts:
My wife is currently not employed in a salaried position
We do not have children
The marriage is genuine and fully documented
I am now trying to understand the best path forward.
For those who have been through something similar:
- Did GCMS notes help identify the real issue?
- Did increasing funds in the applicant’s account make a meaningful difference?
- Has anyone had success with reconsideration requests in a similar situation?
I would appreciate hearing real experiences, both successful and unsuccessful.
Thanks in advance.
