Bad idea to buy expensive car?

Hi, My 21yo got into a very bad no-fsult accident last week. Was driving a $24k Mazda which is now totalled. I was thinking about replacing it with another highish-trim Mazda. I am looking at the same car because I am confident in the safety features as my child was uninjured. I am worried that an older car will not be as safe. I am currently looking at a 2025 CX-30 Premium with 7k miles. It is $29,000. Will it negatively affect insurance rates? Outside of no-fault accident, kid has a good driving record. No other accidents or tickets. But it would be a nightmare if another accident happened
