Blown away

My family and I are finishing our first trip to the island. Nine days split between east and west.

I have to thank this sub because it has been an endless source of advice and wisdom.

I have to say: I get it. This truly is an enchanted island. Not because of the endless things to do, we did El Yunque, the Bio Bay, about 872 beaches, and all the fried food and mofongo we could stuff in our bodies.

There is something magical about the land, the people. We have been honored to meet so many lovely people, both mainlanders and PR natives.

We are staying in Mayaguez now and just tonight the five of us were out to dinner, and I went to pay the bill, only to find out that there was a man in the corner who was paying our bill. I got up to thank him and ask him why. In a heavy PR accent he said, "I like what you're doing. You're a family man."

What?? I've never in my life been so enchanted by a trip and an experience and a land... We leave on Tuesday and I'm already looking forward to our second trip.

Thank you, Puerto Rico.

My family and I are doing a bi-coast trip in a couple of weeks. Would love some advice.

Days 1-3:

Luquillo base, Luquillo Beach, Culebra, and El Yunque.

Days 4-9:

Rincon base, Bio Bay, Crash Boat, Old San Juan, the rest beach time. Maybe Horseback beache ride?

My question is in the transition day from East to West coast, what is the best place to check out in-between? It's me, my wife, and three of our girls, into good food, culture, scenery, etc.
