What are some underrated qualities that you like to see as a supervising teacher?
Hi everyone!
I’m about to go on my first prac in which I’ll be required to take on 1/3 FTE load.
I am going into secondary teaching, however, if there’s something that’s likely applicable to both primary and secondary, I’d love to hear it.
I’ve got some of the more ‘obvious’ hints down as I’ve browsed this subreddit and previous posts, including:
- Give your mentor plenty of time to read over your lesson plans
- Take note of classroom management techniques that are already in place
- Get to know the names of your students
- Know your content well
- Take on as much advice as possible
- Get involved with the school culture
Anyhow, I won’t list all of them.
But what are some underrated things that you’ve seen your best PSTs do? It could be something minor that makes your day just a touch easier, it could be something you haven’t seen mentioned before, or anything that has been said, but isn’t taken on board.
Thank you everyone!
