Can someone explain what is happening?
My dad rejects every marriage alliance, and I’m exhausted.
I’m a 30F from India going through the arranged marriage process. My father is extremely controlling, misogynistic, and narcissistic. Growing up, he forbade me from dating and even stopped me from working, saying I would “embarrass myself.”
The biggest issue is that he never communicates or discusses anything. He just shuts things down without explanation. Today, my aunt sent a biodata for a potential match, and he didn’t even pick up her call. When I brought it up, he got visibly irritated and dismissive.
I honestly don’t understand what he wants. He rejects alliances but also controls every aspect of my life. Has anyone dealt with something similar in an Indian family setup? How did you handle it?
