I haven't ate at a DFAC since IET but here I am and I am thoroughly lost in the sauce.

the DFAC where I am at utilizes a meal card system. To my understanding this uses my $460/month BAS based on the amount that I eat. The only issue I see is the listed prices in the DFAC seem impossible to keep the cost down. Even a meager meal of one protein option, one vegetable, one fruit and a carb comes out to like $9. Estimate 90 meals per month and that'll be $810.

Will I really get charged anything that goes over the $460/month? or is the listed prices used for some internal metric and I am actually being charged a discounted rate to my meal card? or how does this shit work? I thought the whole point of the DFAC was to not spend money on food?
