[CHAT] Decision fatigue and overwhelm over stitching route

I'm autistic and struggle with getting overwhelmed when having to make too many decisions.

And on some days, even things like "which order should I do these stitches" can completely destroy me.

When there are large blocks of colour, it's fine. I can do a block, and it takes enough time that I do not constantly make new decisions.

However, when I get to confetti heavy areas, I often struggle so much that I completely nose the joy of cross stitching.

Do I go up, down, over there, there is a clump of four stitches over there but is that too long to travel, should I go right and do that one stitch over there before I go left to those three stitches over there, but oh, look, a single stitch all by itself way up there, and my brain feels like it is on fire.

I have tried parking, doing the diagonal colour flow style as demonstrated by Gemma from Gremma Stitches on youtube. I kind of love how it makes it easier to decide, but then I get another problem: utter overwhelm by all the threads all over the place...

So I end up switching back and forth: parking and getting overwhelmed by the threads all over the place, or cross country and getting decision fatigue and overwhelm from the lack of a clear path.

Anyone who has felt the same and found a good solution? Appart from the obvious solution of never picking patterns with any confetti :p
