WGU acceleration question — why can Tier 1 only approve the next sequential course?
Has anyone else run into this with WGU Tier 1 Support?
I’m currently trying to accelerate additional courses because I have a time-sensitive job opportunity that requires my degree to be completed by a specific deadline. The deadline came up with short notice, so my mentor and I have been working on a strategy to get through the more manageable/milder classes first instead of taking the hardest finance-heavy courses in order.
My mentor is currently unavailable, so I reached out to Tier 1 Support to see if they could approve/accelerate a course for me. They told me they can only accelerate the next sequentially available course, which in my case is Corporate Finance – D362. The issue is that D362 is not the course my mentor and I were planning for me to take next because I’m trying to prioritize faster courses first due to my deadline.
What’s confusing to me is that I reached out to Tier 1 Support last weekend and they were able to approve a course that was not the next sequential course. So now I’m confused why it was allowed then but not now.
Has anyone else had this happen? Is this an actual WGU policy, or does it depend on the support person/mentor/program? Is there a specific department or wording I should use to get this escalated?
I’m not trying to skip requirements or avoid harder classes completely — I just need to be strategic with the order because this job opportunity depends on me finishing as quickly as possible.
Any advice would be really appreciated.
