Seattle healthcare is genuinely insane
Tried to get a basic physical at a clinic in Cap Hill last month. Front desk quoted me $190 for the visit and said bloodwork was billed separately. Two weeks later I got an EOB for $412 because half the labs were coded diagnostic instead of preventive. For a CBC and a lipid panel. I'm 32 and I just wanted to know my cholesterol and a few other stuff.
Spent the next week down a rabbit hole figuring out how anyone in this city affords preventive care without insurance gymnastics which lead me to find out you can just order your own bloodwork or get it done for free. There's this service called Goodlabs where you book online, walk into a Quest or LabCorp and get drawn at least the pricing is upfront and its relative cheap, im bummed i didn't meet the criteria for the free donation stuff but whatever.
If you donate blood at the Terry Ave or Bellevue center, the panel is included. Posting this because I'm still annoyed about it, and maybe this will come in handy to someone out there!
