Have you ever enjoyed part of a fresh avocado and saved the rest for another time? You may have stored it in a plastic container or a plastic zipper bag and put it in the fridge, then took it out the next day to find that it had started to turn brown. Frustrating, right? But there's a simple solution to keeping it fresh longer, and it's natural: just use the avocado skin like a lid! When you cut and scoop out the flesh and pit of an avocado, don't throw away the skin—keep it and place it back on the rest of the avocado, being sure to cover the exposed flesh. This is a natural way to keep the avocado fresh, using its own skin just as it was when it was whole. Once you place the skin back on the rest of the avocado, place it in a small sandwich bag to keep it in place, and then refrigerate it. Your avocado should remain fresh and green for longer now!
