When comparing rap and hiphop to various other genres, it seems like it is very competitive. Yes, there has always been competition between various artists in other genres, but compared to rap, it is almost minuscule.
There is all the hype around "The Big Three", who is the greatest lyricist, beatmaker, and producer. The big rappers constantly go head to head all the time too, even becoming a cultural event.
I mean, rap even has its own sub genre, which is diss tracks. I can't really think of any other genre blatantly disrespecting and going after another artist in its song.
What makes rap and hip hop so much more competitive compared to these other genres? Why is it so competitive too?
