80s / 90s movie about a young woman that moves to Florida or some seaside town

Independent, low budget movie, American, story about a young woman who, If I recall correctly, she packs her car from some other town or state and moves to a touristy place, I believe to be Florida but could be any seaside touristy town, rents a little house and works at a gift shop for a woman boss. They sell touristy crap. She likes her job and boss and all is well until she meets boss’s son. Boss’s son is the typical spoiled rich kid who may drive a cool car of the era, loves her and leaves her, perhaps abuses her, but nonetheless making for an awkward work place. She leaves the job and suffers. Bosslady comes to see her to get to the botttom of why she lost her awesome employee. While in the girls house, boss sees a knock knack from the gift shop and studies it for a moment. The girl says “I paid for that” and boss responds that she believes her. That’s all I remember.

Certainly, sex offenders need to be charged for their crimes. But how does a look back provisioned case get brought 50 years later? How do you prosecute such a case, how do you DEFEND such a case? I expect that every perpetrator does NOT write a tell all book about his misdeeds.

Anyone feeling any kind of way about these cases?
