High debt after accident, is bankruptcy a good option for my case ?
Hello, this will be my first post for something related to this, mainly want to ask for recommendations but also get it out of my chest, im currently in a ~30k CC debt and Financed vehicle of another 30k, i can give a little bit of background,
Im 27, around 2 years i made some pretty bad financial decisions trying to support my ex-gf, i ended up in around 10k cc debt, we broke up a bit after that but luckily i met someone and she helped me got myself together, it got to the point where i was able to afford most my expenses while covering a good amount of the debt monthly, i got promoted at work (not a huge increase on my salary) and decided to give myself a little treat since i was always on bike and needed something more family friendly, so i got myself a new car for around 38k, i was doing pretty good and decided to take my gf on vacation and unfortunately, during this trip, i got involved on a hit-n-run accident (cant share a lot of context but i really only got money for the medical expenses), it left me pretty bad, i was on the hospital for a month and had to stay out of work for another 6 months, the main issue came here, i applied for a type of unemployment and got approved for the one that is for something like temporal disability, got all the papers from work, the only issue is that they really took their time to give me anything, i actually only got a paycheck for the amount of 2 months of work, main thing was that during the first months, there was a network layoff at work and my position was one of the ones that got affected, so bye bye work, during all this time, i was by myself and relied only on orders and stuff like that, i didnt get any other type of financial support, due to some unreasonable bad decisions on my part, that i feel really stupid and some other life expenses, i ended up with the current 30ish k debt, lucky i couple of months ago i got a new job with the minimum wage and recently got promoted with a good increase (making 26h now, before i was doing 20, not a high amount but yeah), the issue is, im barely getting with my expenses, i got a really high interest in my cards that by the i end up paying the monthly charge, the interest get me back to the same amount of debt, basically making no progress on my cards, i tried getting into a side hustle since i currently have no OT option at my current work, got into Uber and DoorDash but the amount of money that im getting is really not that much, even if i stay a good amount of hours driving, i talked a bit with a friend and he recommended doing bankruptcy, im really afraid of doing this since i dont really know anything about it, one option that im looking into it is changing my car, currently have 29k left on the financed loan but im struggling to pay with all the other expenses plus insurance, i was thinking of trading the car at the dealership for a cheaper one to get me some spare money for the debt, but i dont think it will be a life changing amount, even if i get that extra part to use for the CC debt, the interest are really killing me, i can provide more details if needed but i really want to see any point of view for everyone else, its starting to really affect me mentally, i have been on a really bad mood recently and it started to affect my relationship, and my GF deserves the world, she stayed with me after everything and took care of me, but i have been lying to her, saying that im okay, but she does not know about my debt and i cannot really ask her for help since she is also barely getting by, some part of my debt was because i supported on some of payments, not really sure what to do, any help would be highly appreciated.
Edit: adding income/expenses details
Income is around ~2.5k/mo,
car payment is 620/m + 190 Insurance, phone 105/m, food/rent around 1.2k/m
