Guest might have booked for others?
Hi just wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation. This is my first booking so I’m new to all of this.
I’ve had a guest book to stay with their family for a few months. The interaction began 4 months ago when they wanted me to reduce the price, and after doing so, wanted me to absorb the cost of the Airbnb fees on top of that. They had told me that other hosts in my building had done that for them before, but I told them that I wasn’t able to do that.
This person has messaged a couple times since then about changing the dates because they hadn’t booked their international flights in time. Last week they confirmed that the flights were booked and would arrive on the date of the original booking.
Now I receive a message saying that their family members will be checking in because this person has to work in another country. The person said that they think their family will arrive by 5pm (I’ve stated previously that my check-in time is from 3-5pm because I live a 5 hour drive away). This makes me wonder if the booker will be checking in at all.
I would feel much better if the person booking was the one checking in. I’m thinking about asking them to add their spouse to the Airbnb booking so that I can communicate with them via the app when they check in. Is this reasonable? Has anyone else had a similar experience, or an experience where someone booked for other people?
