Nagabhata I was a legendary Gurjar ruler who established the mighty Gurjar Empire in northern India. He ascended the throne around 730 CE and made Ujjain (Avanti) his capital.

Key Achievement: Successfully repelled the Arab invasion led by Junayd, governor of Sindh. Arab historians mentioned his empire as "Jurz" (Gurjar Empire).
Empire Extent: Gujarat, Rajasthan (Jaisalmer, Bhinmal, Jalore), Malwa, and parts of Gwalior.
Other Conflict: Fought against Rashtrakuta king Dantidurga but recovered his kingdom.
Legacy: Laid the foundation for future Gurjar rulers like Vatsaraja and Mihir Bhoja.
