What other apps follow the principles of Obsidian?

I really enjoy this philosophy. https://stephango.com/file-over-app

Basically, apps that use standard file formats instead of everything being in a cloud database somewhere.

Apps might come and go, but your files have a chance to last.

I want more tools that work like Obsidian! Here's some I enjoy:
- KeepassXC - file based passwords manager

Are Mac minis a bad idea for beginners?

I have a friend who is not in IT, but just wants to buy a solution for Jellyfin or Immich. They don't care to manage and fix downtime and they definitely don't want to learn linux.

Is there a simpler solution than just a Mac mini? The specs seem to offer enough, albeit at a more expensive price.

Degoogled, but what about Big Banks?

I'm fairly diversified from Big Tech. I use a Graphene phone, no social media, most of my friends and family are on Signal. It was a long but fulfilling journey.

However, I am curious what we all think about Big Banks. Arguably, they have exhibited the same issues as big tech companies.

I still use one of the JPM, BoA, Citi. But I can't help but believe there is another way to protect myself. Are credit unions any better than a national bank?

This may be heresy, but why doesn't anyone on this subreddit talk about crypto or decentralized forms of finance? Honestly, just want a discussion. Not promoting anything.
