World Cup on board?

Hello! We are cruising to Bermuda on the Breakaway in a couple weeks. Will we be able to watch the World Cup on the ship? The match we are trying to watch is on Tuesday, which is a sea day.

Mastery curriculum or TGATB level 2

We’ve used the Good and the Beautiful Preschool-Kindergarten. My daughter is an excellent reader, always has been. My sister is a former classroom teacher and said my daughter is about a Level H F&P. We are on Lesson 11 of Language Arts Level 1 TGATB, and she flipped to the last booster card and read it. Then I flipped to the assessment for Level 2 and she read it with no errors. WHOOPS.

I’ve always loved TGATB and don’t want to switch because I’m so familiar with it, but should I switch to a more mastery-based curriculum? Gut says try something new so she is challenged.

Helping my 5 yo son

My freshly 5 year old has struggled with constipation and encopresis since we potty trained when he was 2. Since then we’ve tried countless MiraLAX clean outs, 1 barium enema, suppositories, MOP protocol, magnesium, senna plus, prize box lol, etc. currently he takes 2 ex lax a day. He sees a GI who said if it doesn’t improve in 4 weeks she wants to start him on enemas every other day. He typically has a small BM in the afternoon and a small one in the evening. I don’t ever thinks he gets it all out. He has small accidents every day. I try so hard to be supportive and not show my sadness or frustration. His BM situation absolutely runs my family…can’t go swimming, he can’t stay overnight with family, no afterschool activities. Very hard to go in trips. Negative for celiacs. He withholds. He’s being evaluated for autism in a couple weeks but I don’t think it will come back as anything…he socializes typically and no speech issues.

I realize these are small issues in the grand scheme of things, but in my small bubble it just breaks my heart for him. I realize this group is mostly adults with constipation, but those who struggled when they were young, what helped and what did you family do to make you feel supported/not supported (😢😭). Terrified of him having ill-feelings toward me or his childhood. Just a worried and stressed mom over here.

Hello, I have been following the autism group too, but I don’t think my son’s possible autism is applicable there. My son is freshly 5, and will be in Kindergarten next year. He is a social, active, and smart young man though he’s had noticeable sensory differences since he was 2. He had a screening recently and he’s having an autism evaluation in June.

His main struggle is related to withholding his BMs. We’ve gone to countless specialists, but still having daily skidmarks. Current specialist says his nerve endings are fried from withholding when he was younger and it will get better over time. He takes medication daily to keep things moving and we’ve seen significant improvement since September, but still 6-7 days of the week he has skidmarks.

When he’s in trouble, he will not make eye contact with you and will fidget with the closest toy or with my shirt when you try to talk to him about it. If he accidentally hurts someone he doesn’t stop to ask if they are okay or say sorry. We have to prompt him every. Single. Time.

He seeks being off-balance, but not all the time. He is surprisingly good at soccer and has body awareness. When he’s tired, we get glimpses of him toe-walking at home. No light or sound sensitivity.

Despite all these things, schools sees nothing. He socializes typically with others and he is already reading CVC words. Has no issues with disrupted routines, does not have a hyper-interest, and no communication issues.

My youngest brother has autism and my oldest brother has OCD and ADHD. I’m unsure if their diagnosis is a factor.

Does this sound like immaturity, or a sensory difference and not autism? I’m driving my husband crazy with wondering out loud, and asking him questions of how he thinks the evaluation will go. If it’s not autism, what do you think the outcome will be?
