Elgato HD60 S+ Capture Card stopped reading Nintendo Wii
Hi,
I am trying to record game footage from my Nintendo Wii using an Elgato Capture HD60 S+ and OBS Studio. I have been able to record footage from my Wii with this capture card for many years, even up to as recently as last week, but all of a sudden, a few days ago, when I tried to record footage, my Wii displayed like this. It looks perfectly fine on the TV but stopped passing through properly on the capture card and now gives me this glitchy mess. For context, recording my Wii U and Nintendo Switch 2 work perfectly.
I've tried just about every single fix I can think of. I've been using a cheap Wii to HDMI adapter, so I tried switching to using a composite to HDMI adapter, I made sure I had my Wii's screen setting set to 480p, I tried a different HDMI cable altogether, I bought a Wii to HDMI upscaler cable, I tried an HDMI splitter, and I even tried plugging in a different Wii entirely, but still, nothing worked, and I keep getting stuck with this.
The only thing I can think of at this point is to upgrade my capture card to either an HD60 X or a 4K S, but I'm nervous that neither will actually fix my problem and get the Wii to pass through properly. If any of you can think of any other solution to help get my HD60 S+ to read my Wii correctly again, that would be incredibly appreciated!
