2.5 years ago I bought this plant as a cutting on facebook market place. The vendor already stated that the plant used to have thrips but that they are gone. Since then I've put the plant on a moss pole and it showed okay-ish growth with some fenestrated leaves (pic 1).

At some point however the thrips came back and I sprayed it with an insecticide on rapeseed oil basis. The thrips were gone for some time but always came back again in waves. I've never seen adult ones though (only larvae) but they also transferred to some other plants in my appartment :(

Then I've been in the hospital for 6 months (doing better again now) and the thrips caused lots of damage to the plant during my absence. So I've decided to replace the moss pole and the pot last october (pic 2 and 3) and since then the plant has grown two new leafs (pic 4). However, the thrips came back again. Now I plan to spray all of my plants once per week with a stronger insecticide containing acetamiprid for 4-5 weeks and hope that this will do.

I'm not sure if I should cut the plant again to get rid of the highly damaged parts or would this be too much stress for the plant? Do you have any other tips?

I've also seen that the newest leaf has some very light brown spot on the variegated part of the leaf (pic 5), meaning the thrips are probably there already :((
