Question about seniority
im a RN at a Va hospital. management told us few weeks ago that the higher ups informed them that our unit has too much Staff, largely due to the increase in hires during Covid time. they said due to this we would have staff based senority would be moved to other units in need and this move is permanent. this has caused everyone worry.
is this seniority based on the date you are hired for your role or when you where first hired in va? I’m asking this because I was hired as a RN back 5.5 years ago and we have staff on our unit that are new RNs that been hired 2022-2024 but they have been before LPNs and NA/PCT and they been at Va longer than me. On our yearly vacation paper where you mark which weeks you are requesting vacation for next year shows everyone seniority as the date they where hired for current role (RN).
