Tips for Reclaimed Purple
All photos were scanned with the Polaroid app on my phone, so sorry for the potato scan quality.
Was shooting my first pack of reclaimed purple yesterday and noticed that the film tends to turn out dark and photos come out better when using the lighten setting.
Photos 1 and 2: shot back to back in the exact same conditions, the normal one is from an SX70 Sonar and the purple one is from a OneStep Plus. While not a perfect comparision since the cameras are different, I generally get the same exposure performance across my two cameras. Both shots are set at neutral exposure. The bad scan quality exaggerates the darkness of the purple photo a little, but the words are hard to read unless you shine a flashlight onto it
Photo 3: similar lighting to photos 1 and 2, but now using the +/lighten setting on the OneStep Plus (I think the manual says this is +1/2 EV?).
In general, the reclaimed purple seems to turn out dark on areas that are not extremely bright (i.e. the sky) and benefits from brightening the exposure.
