Kids moving in summer/new school in fall
My kids are going into grade 2 and 5 and we just found our dream home… 7 min drive from our current home but we are in a new catchment area so…new school.
I don’t want to drive them to their old school as the new ones actually better and in a better neighbourhood. But me? I’m devastated. I feel like I’m tearing them away from their comfort, friends, school that they know like the back of their hand and love their teachers.
It’s not lost on me that friends can move, teachers can leave and life moves on but I just would love some perspective for people that had to move their kids and felt this same grief.
I know they are adaptable but it truly feels like I’m grieving and so are they… the youngest has good and bad days… and my oldest is much more aware about starting new.
They will love their new home and have the summer to meet kids… but that doesn’t replace their favourite music teacher or friends.
Please any tips or words of advice as we navigate through this. It’s tough.
