Has anyone applied to teacher's college (Frazer Faculty) and got a response?

I got a response a while ago that I was waitlisted, and wanted to know if anyone else was waitlisted as well, and if they know when we would get a response form admissions.

I also see on my application that they have not yet received my final transcript with my date of graduation even though I sent it via OUAC. Does anyone else have this on their application as well?

Continued MT Waitlist Interest Form delayed response

I didn't realize I got an email from OISE asking me to submit the Continued MT Waitlist Interest Form by May 29th and found the email today. I just submitted my response, but is it too late? Would they still accept the Waitlist Interest Form?

I did accept an offer from York because I was waitlisted for OISE and another university (and didn't want to lose an admission as I wait), but travel-wise, York is too far, so my hope was on OISE or the other university.

Looking for a book with similar vibes to Lilah

So I read this book a few years ago that gave me the same vibe as Lilah, but I can't remember why. Maybe it was because the FMCs were similar, the MMCs were similar, or both.

I swear it was something called Darius (or some MMC name with "D"; maybe Deren? Idk) and I had it both in a reading list and in my archives, but I don't have it there anymore. I think the cover had a male on it, but I can't remember.

I can't remember much of the plot, but I think ML owned a club or was part of the mafia or something. UGH, I can't remember. Perhaps he was a closed off character, and she was bubbly and talkative. I want to say there was a scene where FMC goes to meet him in his club or wherever and he had an office within it, but that's like every other book. Perhaps they both denied their feelings, or MMC denied his feelings or something, idk.

All I remember fs was the title was MMC's name that started with a "D", the cover was a male, most likely a head shot, though I can't remember if the face was visible, and that the book gave me similar vibes to Lilah. I'm not sure if the author deleted the story or renamed it + changed the cover, but I hope someone knows what I'm talking about.

Liking all (or many) posts at once impacting reach

I have an account to promote my story, and there are always other story creators talking about how if someone likes all of your posts (or many posts) at once, it impacts your reach as a creator. They make sure to constantly add a story asking users not to like all posts at once, and say that it would affect their reach, and that Instagram would detect them as spam. Is this true? I've had this happen to me a few times, but I'm not sure if it really impacted my reach.

Need some perspectives from Tamil authors or readers who've read Tamil stories (e.g. Tanglish stories, stories written in English but with Tamil characters, translated stories, etc)

Is the only way to get more readers through either writing a fanfic (Ashaangi, Vika etc) or by writing a non-Tamil story with no Tamil characters/dialogues?

Apparently, these are the only types of stories that seem to do really well now.

Obviously, not all authors write these types of stories. I've come across many Tamil authors who write the exception and have a pretty good audience. However, from my experience, no matter what type of story I write, it will never find the audience that others have.

Now, before anyone says anything, I know that I should write for myself and should give my story the time to find its audience. I also know that some readers prefer completed stories and have their own preferences and that my story may not pique their interest etc.

Still, it's hard not to be disappointed. I've been writing for over a year and I'm not doing too bad, but the only thing that helped me was r4r which was not a good idea. Otherwise, not many actually read my story. That realization stays with you when not many read your latest chapters.

Recently, a few authors read and comment on my story with the expectation that I'd read and comment on theirs. If I don't, they then keep voting on my chapters with the expectation that I'd do that to their stories as well. If the only thing that increases views is a transaction between two authors, what's the point of publishing your story on Wattpad?

I am aware that the Wattpad algorithm has changed and that readers seem to like popular tropes/plots, but is there any hope for authors who don't write such stories?

Anyway, I did write a somewhat popular trope when I first started writing. It's a village romance, though I guess since it differed from the popular plots (at the time, it was rowdy MMC or one's mama/cousin), the story didn't catch many readers' interest.

I guess since my story isn't Tanglish, not many readers prefer it, though I notice many authors who write in English have a good/decent amount of readers.

I also notice the same group of readers read the stories of many authors, yet they don't seem to read mine. I see the same usernames comment on so many of these stories (sometimes if an author writes more than one story, they comment on the others as well), so sometimes I wonder why they wouldn't give mine a chance. Most of them read fanfics, but some of them don't.

On a different side, some Tamil authors don't reveal that they are Tamil and write stories with Hindi speaking characters, but some of them who do reveal that they are, still choose to write Hindi speaking characters. I'm not sure if it's because Hindi speakers are the larger audience on Wattpad so they want to target them, or if it's for another reason. However, some of these authors still do pretty good audience-wise.

Some Tamil authors write a Tamil character and non-Tamil character romance story to target both Tamil and Hindi speaking audiences, or they have a Tamil character based in Mumbai, for example, so that they can use the 'Mumbai' and 'Hindi' tag on their stories, therefore increasing their audience.

However, after a long journey of writing BIPOC characters, I decided to stick with Tamil characters. This isn't a problem at all. But you'd think that this would at least attract more Tamil readers. And since my story is written in English, and because many non-Tamil speakers read Tamil stories, you'd think non-Tamil readers would also give my story a chance. It only worked when doing r4r. Otherwise, I don't think any of them are currently reading my story.

Obviously, they don't have to read my story. But I do know that many non-Tamil speakers read Tamil stories (those written in English or that include English translations). So they are not out of question.

I've tried many things to promote my story, tried to keep the hope that slowly but surely, my story will reach its audience, that if I continue updating and complete the story, more readers would read it since some prefer completed stories and whatnot, but there are also readers who read ongoing stories as well. Readers who ask for the next update, who genuinely want to wait for the next update, and who are actively engaged with the stories.

So then it comes down to "why not me?" I know I'm not the only author that feels this way. I know that all I seem to be doing is complaining and whatnot, and that thinking negatively isn't helpful, but it's hard not to.

It really feels like there's no hope for my story. I guess I do have silent readers, those that don't vote or comment, but it just really sucks overall considering everything.

What also kind of makes me feel defeated is that a few readers added my story to their fanfic reading list but my story is in no way connected to them. I neither used celebrities as face claims or used tags related to them. I'm not saying that being associated with it is bad, or that fanfics don't deserve the love they receive. However, I feel like it reduces my story to just that: a fanfic. Meaning, the only reason these readers read my story is because they think their favourite fan ship is the cast for it.

Idk. I guess I really am just a negative Nancy. I should just shut up and keep writing because one day, the story could find the right audience. Honestly, I feel like Wattpad isn't the platform it once was, yet I still keep my hope on it.

Notifications from blocked accounts

Whenever I block an account, I notice that I still receive notifications if they update a story or post an announcement. Usually, if I unblock them and block them again, those notifications stop. However, for this one account, I still receive notifications even though I kept them blocked for over a week now. Does anyone else face this issue or at least know why it happens?

I need to know some thoughts about something I wrote from your perspectives.

So in my story, the twist is that my main characters share their past lives together where they fell in love. FMC dies and MMC seeks another chance with her, and they are both born again, though MMC is the only one who remembers everything. They grow up together, but MMC is six years older. I'm re-reading this portion I wrote where he mentions he left at eighteen and she was twelve.

Nothing happened between them, though FMC was very attached to him as a child. They grew up as childhood friends, and there was another scene where she mentioned he was her husband when she was six and he was twelve, though he said she shouldn't call him that. He did imply they'd marry when they were older, but still told her not to think about marriage until then.

I rarely wrote flashback scenes about their childhood, but I just made it seem like they were inseparable until he left.

They don't unite until he returns some years later, and she's an adult. There were some conditions placed on their union and MMC revealing the past, which couldn't happen until they were met.

FMC was extremely attached to MMC as a child because of that past connection/love they shared, and MMC left because it wouldn't help her development, especially since he was older. I never clarified if he loved her during that time, though since he knew of their past, I guess he did love her, but not romantically. Or, ugh, idk. Does it make sense? Like yes he romantically loved her in the past, and found another chance with her, and he knew he would marry her in the future, but idk. I never mentioned explicitly that he loved her during that time, but a few readers asked, and I just said I made it ambiguous and wouldn't clarify. Anyway, she was made to forget her memories of him after he left because she couldn't bear the separation, so she doesn't remember much about him when she meets him again. Only snippets here and there, or things others would tell her.

Idk, is this weird, inappropriate, illegal etc? Sometimes you don't realize you wrote something that is or could be problematic until you re-read your work. Or am I overthinking way too much? Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Sounds like a dumb question, but I'm stuck.

So my MMC, despite loving FMC for hundreds/thousands of years, hurts her by pushing her away, acts like he doesn't like/love her, and promises to resist her by stopping their impending wedding.

For more context, they met in a previous life where they fall in love, but she is cursed to die at his hands. He was/is traumatized by it even though he was the one who asked for a second chance with her. Many years passed until she was born again, and although he knows he loves her, he pushes her away because he fears fate will take her away again. She eventually reaches a breaking point and he realizes how much he has hurt her. FMC is unaware of their past as part of a condition that needed to be met for their reunion. He will eventually tell her.

FMC is not ready to forgive him, and won't after learning about their past. MMC would grovel, but I'm not sure how to make him do it. I've tried looking into it online, but not many go into detail on what grovelling entails. I know he needs to realize and accept his mistakes, ask for forgiveness etc, but what else? Some advice I've got was to read stories with grovelling, but I don't have the energy to read atm.

What do you guys think about writing or reading a long chapter?

There are no limits to how long a chapter should be, but for published books, they typically range from an average 2k-5k words. However, some authors write less or way more.

My average word count for chapters are mainly between 4-5k, though some have 3k words and very few go over 6k. According to Wattpad, this would take readers about 18-21 minutes to complete.

The current chapter I'm writing is over 6.6k words now (It's taking so long to finish, almost a month since I started it)😭 The reason is because I see no point in making it into two parts, but maybe I should. I'm writing my characters' first kiss which leads to intimacy, and this is the calm before the storm, so I don't want to make it two chapters.

Idk if the chapter will reach 10k words, but it would be too long to read. Should I split it then? Make the first kiss portion one chapter, and the intimacy as part 2?

Also, what do you think about long chapters as a reader or writer?
