Right THR 5 month update-disappointed with progress
51 yr old male
Right THR anterior approach
Surgery December 15th
Indianapolis, IN USA
First month was challenging, started seeing improvement at the 5 week mark. Got my two month checkup and got the all clear, ramped up exercise and pain returned, took time off then resumed exercise and pain returned. Scheduled follow up with surgeon, did some x rays, the implant looked solid with no issues, doctor believes I have hip bursitis. Prescribed cortisone pack plus meloxicam. Have been taking it for two weeks with little to no improvement. Pain mostly in upper thigh, incision and side. Also experiencing major back pain with sciatica. I also think I have some sort of nerve pain, tingling in foot and upper thigh.
Looking for some advice on people who experienced hip bursitis after THR. Recommendations on what might have helped. I am beginning to lose hope and realizing that the surgery did not work for me. I’m afraid I will be dealing with this pain for the rest of my life, it’s depressing.
Appreciate any info to help alleviate the pain. Doctor said if it does not improve he would give me an injection.
So much for this surgery being so easy and 99% positive outcome. This sucks.
