Socializing a Spicy Kitten??

Hi everyone,

I found this little girl (6-7 weeks) under a car, hiding in the engine every time she got scared. I finally caught her and got her safe in the house. she was very scared at first, but after a vet appointment, we learned she’s healthy besides fleas. I’ve never owned a cat before but I think she’s the one.

I set up a semi open room off the kitchen - now gates off from the house- to be a kitten room so she has a little space but there’s room to socialize. It’s been about 5 days and I’m so nervous about fucking up. She has a little bed in a cardboard box for safety (I let her have that as a space where she can hide if she wants) but I can barely get her out of hiding for meals. I spent almost four hours waiting for her to come out to eat and she didn’t even finish her food (I am doing wet food only when I’m there and a little dry food overnight/when I’m at work).

What is my best move to get her socialized? Should I give her less of a hiding place (Move the bed somewhere else in the room so she’s not behind it)? Is the room itself too big (10x6 feet) and I should switch to a large dog crate in a high traffic area? Should I try and be more forward around meal times, show her the food as close as I can? Do I just need patience?

Please please help me
