Finally got my first Gibson
It was quite a long journey. Last year I purchased a used 2006 Special from a professional musician who really took good care of it, but it got years of very intense use. I specifically wanted that model because it had a slim neck. The original owner stripped off the TV Yellow and gave it a natural brown finish.
Unfortunately something went terribly wrong when he shipped the guitar. It fell on its belly an the three way switch was pushed in and cracked the body.
I don’t know why, but I refused to return it and instead brought it to a very experienced local luthier. He did an outstanding job repairing the crack and gave it an unbelievable beautiful vintage cherry finish. It has a beautiful open grain texture that looks and feels incredible. My luthier didn’t have a black poker chip, so he used a white one as a place holder. But actually I think it looks quite bad ass like that.
Obviously for the money invested I could have bought 1.5 new ones, but I’m not mad about that. I finally ended up with an incredible guitar that is totally unique and has a ton of character.
Thanks to Neubauer Guitars for this incredible job!
