Cestrum Nocturnum (Night Blooming Jasmine) with 8 lobe flowers?
Got some plants from Neem Tree Farms. Also got one plant from a local nursery.
Pictured is the plant from neem tree farms including a comparison of the flower from this plant with a flower from a local nursery plant.
The blooms from the neem tree farms plant have flowers with either 7 or 8 lobes, and a bit more of a sweet and airy, but very similar classic night blooming jasmine smell. Maybe a little weaker smell than my 5 lobed flowers.
Can’t find anything about any cestrum or lookalikes with 8 lobe flowers. Apparently cestrum nocturnum should typically have 5 lobes like a star, and that’s always been my experience until this. I’ve seen photos of some with 4 or 6 on the same plant too.
Anyone have any clue what’s going on here? Mutation, hybrid, or another plant entirely? Normal variation?
