I'm trying to understand why Table 2 in USP <51> indicates extended method suitability microbial recovery times where <61> requires much shorter recovery incubation times.

My interpretation is that one could use the times in <61> to establish inoculum organism viability counts and method suitability for neutralization and the times in the last column of Table 2 in <51> need only be used for the AET time point pulls to allow injured or stressed organisms time to grow to an enumerable state.

Additional insight or perspective would be helpful.
