I’m not Jordanian, but I noticed people here often ask about your family/tribe name very quickly, and it made me curious about the meaning behind it.

Does a certain family name carry more social status, respect, connections, or influence than others? Like, are some names viewed more “superior” socially while others are looked at differently?

I might be completely misunderstanding the culture, but I genuinely wanted to hear Jordanians’ thoughts on this
