Chance a Successful Roblox Developer

Chance a Successful Roblox Developer

Hi guys. During the first few years of high school, specifically freshman and sophomore year, I slacked off and received Bs in remedial classes. I was focusing on other things and acting like I couldn't focus on school which was incredibly stupid. But being stuck in the past is a destructive cycle. In Junior year I decided to lock in and nearly all of my final grades have been 97+, which has been hard to balance, but I'm happy I pushed through.

Demographics and Background
Male, White, from a high-income household
Private school student in Georgia, USA

Intended Major
Finance and Accounting
Economics and Political Science
Varies by school

SAT
1500 - 740 R&W, 760 M

GPAs and Rankings
4.3 W GPA ending Junior Year
~94 UW GPA ending Junior Year
Ranking not applicable; school does not disclose

Coursework
9 APs (by e/o Senior Year) in a school system where 8 is the traditional maximum. Taking both AP Microeconomics and Macroeconomics in the same period over two semesters.

Got a 5 on APWH Sophomore Year. Confident I also got 5s on APCSP, APLAC, and APUSH this year.

Next year I'm taking AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Statistics, and AP Calculus AB.

4 Honors classes mostly taken earlier in high school, reflecting max rigor (as in, I took Honors when no AP was available, and AP instead of Honors when both were available)

School Awards
APCSP: Excellence Award (Junior)
Varsity Wrestling: Most Improved (Sophomore, Junior)

School Extracurriculars
4y Varsity Lacrosse (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior)
3y Varsity Wrestling (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior)
2y Varsity Football (Freshman, Sophomore)

CFA Leadership Academy (Sophomore)
National Honors Society (Sophomore, Junior, Senior)

Mission Support Team (School Club) - Member (Junior), Communications Director (Senior)

Independent Extracurriculars

Front of House, Chick-Fil-A (Freshman, Sophomore)

Independent Interface Designer, Roblox
- Over the course of 6 years, worked with over 250 clients (Roblox Game Developers) to develop sets of interface catered to their needs and deliver them professionally and punctually. See more about my portfolio here.
- Generated over $10,000 in revenue through UI/UX commissions, but I don't think I'll focus on revenue metrics for my college application (though Roblox will obviously play a major role as my major extracurricular).

Independent Game Developer, Roblox
- Over the course of 2 years, developed 5 unique game concepts and brought them to the broader Roblox market, leading a team of 3-5 developers in doing so. 2 of the games were major successes, garnering at least 20 million sessions within a year of release.
- Lead the development of games that collectively accrued over 60 million individual play sessions and over $65,000 in revenue, but I don't think I'll focus on the revenue metrics for my college application (as said earlier).

Essay

Haven't wrote my essay yet, but I think I'll focus on my journey with Roblox. Specifically, I'd like to focus in on how it challenged me and forced me to grow. I don't think I'll mention many statistics in my essay.

Schools

Reaches: Cornell (family ties?), Vanderbilt
Targets: Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Florida, Notre Dame
Safeties: Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi

Haven't decided which colleges I'll apply EA or RD to. Similarly, I haven't considered ED. Advice would be awesome, though

Please let me know what you all think! I'm open to questions and would love to hear what y'all think.
