Fresh gunite pool startup Day 14 is complete, and the water chemistry is finally starting to track consistently! In today’s update, I walk through the exact test readings, the corrective chemical adjustments I made, and how the newly refinished pool surface is responding after two weeks of startup care.

If you're going through a fresh plaster, pebble, quartz, or gunite pool startup, this series shows the REAL daily process — including chlorine adjustments, pH balancing, alkalinity management, calcium hardness tracking, and CYA stabilization. Today’s readings showed chlorine at 1–2 ppm, pH at 7.6, alkalinity at 60 ppm, calcium at 270 ppm, and CYA at 40 ppm before corrections were made.

Corrective measures for Day 14 included:

* 1.25 quarts of chlorine
* 1.25 quarts of muriatic acid

The pool finish is continuing to cure nicely, and the water clarity is looking incredible as we move deeper into the startup phase. This pool was refinished with a beautiful pebble-style gunite finish, and every day of this startup process matters if you want to avoid scaling, etching, plaster dust, staining, or long-term surface issues.

Throughout this series, I’m documenting:

* Daily pool chemistry readings
* Fresh plaster startup procedures
* Water balancing techniques
* Pool equipment operation
* Pump runtime and circulation strategies
* Real-world troubleshooting
* Startup mistakes to avoid
* Chemical dosage adjustments

If you’ve ever wondered what the FIRST few weeks of a newly refinished pool should actually look like, this series gives you the complete real-world process from start to finish.

Whether you have:

* a gunite pool
* plaster pool
* pebble finish
* quartz finish
* saltwater system
* variable speed pump
* new pool construction
* or a pool remodel

…these startup updates can help you protect your investment and keep your water crystal clear.

Thanks for following along with the journey — Day 14 is officially in the books!

**Day 11… I Think My New Pool Water Is FINALLY Perfect**

**Day 11… I Think My New Pool Water Is FINALLY Perfect**

Test Kits I use and recommend -
https://amzn.to/4foBrtS
https://amzn.to/4tDJhDC

After 11 days of nonstop monitoring, testing, balancing, brushing, and running the system 24/7… I think this newly refinished gunite pool is finally getting dialed in perfectly. Today I go over the latest pool chemistry readings, the adjustments I made, and why keeping your water balanced during a fresh plaster startup is absolutely critical.

This pool was refinished with a beautiful pebble finish and glass beads, so protecting the surface during startup is one of the most important parts of the entire project. In today’s update, I share the current chlorine, pH, and alkalinity readings, explain why I adjusted them, and show how the water is responding as the curing process continues.

Current readings before adjustment:
• Chlorine: 1.5 ppm
• pH: 7.6
• Alkalinity: 60 ppm

I also discuss why I’m still running the filter system 24 hours a day at 2500 RPM and what signs tell me the water chemistry is finally stabilizing. If you’re going through a new pool plaster startup, pebble finish startup, or glass bead finish curing process, this series may help you avoid expensive mistakes and surface damage.

Throughout this startup journey I’ve been following recommended startup procedures while documenting the real-world results day by day. Whether you have a gunite pool, saltwater pool, pebble finish, quartz finish, or newly plastered swimming pool, proper water balance during the first 30 days is critical.

Topics covered in this video include:

* Fresh plaster startup chemistry
* Pebble pool startup process
* Proper chlorine levels for new plaster
* pH control during startup
* Alkalinity adjustments
* Variable speed pump runtime recommendations
* 24/7 pool circulation during curing
* Filter operation during startup
* Water clarity improvements
* Glass bead pool finish care

If you’re restoring or refinishing your own swimming pool, follow along with this full startup series as I document every adjustment, lesson learned, and chemistry change in real time.

Day 9 of my newly plastered gunite pool startup is here, and today’s water chemistry readings could make or break the curing process of this brand-new PMM Freestone pebble finish in Azure with Blue Treasure glass beads and seashells. If you’re starting up a freshly plastered pool, this series shows exactly what happens day by day so you can avoid costly mistakes and protect your finish from scaling, etching, discoloration, or improper curing.

In today’s update, I test and review the pool water chemistry including chlorine, alkalinity, pH, calcium hardness, and cyanuric acid levels while explaining why each number matters during the critical first 30 days of a new plaster startup. This is real-world pool startup conditioning using National Plaster Council startup principles and practical experience from an actual gunite pool remodel.

Today’s readings:
• Chlorine: 5 ppm
• Total Alkalinity: 80 ppm
• pH: 7.0
• Calcium Hardness: 230 ppm
• CYA/Stabilizer: 40 ppm

This PMM Freestone Azure finish with Blue Treasure glass beads continues to change appearance as the water chemistry stabilizes and the finish cures. Throughout this startup journey, I’ll show the daily maintenance, brushing routines, chemical adjustments, pump operation, and water balancing process needed to help a fresh pebble finish cure properly and look incredible for years to come.

If you’re installing a pebble finish pool, replastering a gunite pool, or trying to learn proper startup chemistry, this series can help you understand:
• Proper chlorine levels during startup
• How to manage pH drift

**These Water Numbers Could Save Your New Pool Finish | Day 8 Startup**

**These Water Numbers Could Save Your New Pool Finish | Day 8 Startup**

The water chemistry is finally starting to lock in on Day 8 of this brand-new gunite pool startup! Today I test and balance the pool water while tracking the curing process of this beautiful PMM Pebble Finish in Azure with Blue Treasure glass beads.

Fresh plaster startup water chemistry is one of the most important stages of a new swimming pool finish, and in this video I share the actual test readings, adjustments, and conditioning process I’m using to protect the surface during the critical first 30 days.

Today’s pool chemistry readings:
✅ Chlorine: 2.5 ppm
✅ pH: 7.2
✅ Total Alkalinity: 80 ppm
✅ Calcium Hardness: 230 ppm
✅ Cyanuric Acid (CYA): 40 ppm

These numbers are finally getting very close to ideal startup conditions for a newly refinished gunite pool with a pebble finish and glass bead additive system. Maintaining balanced water during this phase helps prevent plaster dust issues, scaling, etching, discoloration, and long-term finish damage.

This pool was refinished using PMM Marbleite Freestone Series Azure with Blue Treasure glass beads and seashell additives for extra brilliance and sparkle. Throughout this startup series, I’m documenting the real-world process day by day so viewers can follow along and compare their own pool startup journey.

In this Day 8 update, we cover:

* Current water chemistry readings
* Why pH control matters during startup
* Maintaining proper chlorine levels
* Calcium hardness progress
* CYA stabilization discussion
* Water clarity improvements
* Pebble finish curing observations
* Pool brushing and conditioning
* Startup maintenance routines
* Real-world DIY pool owner tips

If you recently replastered your pool, installed a pebble finish, or are managing a new gunite pool startup, these videos can help you understand what to expect during the curing process and how important balanced water chemistry really is.

One of the most satisfying parts of this project is watching the Azure finish continue to evolve as the water clears and the glass beads begin reflecting sunlight throughout the pool. Every day the finish looks a little better.

Thanks for following along on this pool remodel and startup journey!

The whole 8 month pool refinishing process videos - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQybHO-Wt0fKnU6ujexX2IdpwC4sj8Juu

In this video I am adding 16 pounds of calcium to take my pool from 180 ppm to around 220 ppm

We'll see what we end up with at the next test.

Fresh plaster pool startup is one of the MOST critical stages in protecting your new finish — and calcium hardness plays a huge role in whether your pool surface cures properly or starts developing problems early. In this video, I show you exactly how I safely raise calcium hardness in my freshly plastered gunite pool using the National Plaster Council startup method.

If you recently had your pool replastered, resurfaced, or refinished with pebble or quartz finish materials, this video can help you avoid costly startup mistakes. I walk through the process step-by-step, explain why calcium hardness matters, how much to add, how to dissolve it safely, and what levels you should aim for during the first 28 days of curing.

My pool features a fresh pebble finish with glass beads, so water chemistry management is absolutely critical right now. Too little calcium can aggressively pull minerals from new plaster surfaces, while too much can create scaling and curing problems. I’ll show you the exact balancing process I’m using to protect this brand-new finish.

In this video:

* How calcium hardness affects fresh plaster curing
* Why startup chemistry matters so much
* Safe ways to add calcium increaser
* Common mistakes pool owners make
* National Plaster Council startup considerations
* Pool chemistry testing and balancing
* Fresh plaster pool maintenance tips
* Calcium hardness targets for new pools
* How I’m handling startup on my newly refinished gunite pool

If you own a plaster pool, gunite pool, pebble finish pool, or are planning a pool resurfacing project, this series should help you better understand proper startup chemistry and long-term surface protection.

I’m documenting this entire pool remodel and startup process step-by-step so other pool owners can learn from both the successes and mistakes along the way.

Fresh plaster pool startup chemistry is one of the MOST important phases of owning a newly finished swimming pool. If you get this wrong during the first few days, you can permanently damage your plaster finish, cause scaling, discoloration, streaking, etching, or shorten the life of your pool surface. In this video, I’ll show you exactly how I’m starting up my freshly plastered gunite pool using the National Plaster Council (NPC) startup method.

Whether you have a pebble finish, quartz finish, Marcite, Diamond Brite, Marbleite, or traditional plaster, these startup chemistry steps are critical. I’ll walk you through the water testing process, balancing pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, stabilizer (CYA), chlorine levels, pump runtime, brushing schedule, and the mistakes you absolutely must avoid during the first 30 days.

This is real-world pool startup chemistry from an actual freshly plastered pool project — not just theory. I’ll explain what I’m doing, why I’m doing it, and how these adjustments help protect the plaster while the surface cures properly.

In this video:
✔️ Fresh plaster pool startup chemistry
✔️ National Plaster Council startup method
✔️ How to balance new pool water
✔️ Proper pH control for fresh plaster
✔️ Calcium hardness adjustment
✔️ Total alkalinity balancing
✔️ When to add chlorine and stabilizer
✔️ Pool brushing schedule
✔️ Pentair VS pump startup settings
✔️ Common new plaster mistakes to avoid

If you recently refinished your swimming pool, had new plaster installed, or are planning a gunite pool renovation, this video can help you avoid expensive startup mistakes and keep your water crystal clear during the curing process.

I’m documenting the entire startup process on my Rhode Island pool remodel project including:

* Pebble plaster startup
* Glass bead finish curing
* Pool chemistry balancing
* Equipment setup
* Water conditioning
* Startup troubleshooting
* NPC startup compliance

**Ring Camera Caught 2 Strange Orbs at 4:15AM – Insects or Spirits?**

**Ring Camera Caught 2 Strange Orbs at 4:15AM – Insects or Spirits?**

Camera in this video - https://amzn.to/4foO3RM

At 4:15AM my Ring camera suddenly triggered a motion alert inside my garage… and what showed up on the footage honestly caught me off guard. Two glowing objects appeared moving through the frame, and now I’m trying to figure out what they actually are. Are these just insects reflecting infrared light… or something much stranger?

In this late-night Ring camera footage, you’ll see exactly what woke me up and caused the motion notification alert. I’ve watched the clip over and over, slowed it down, zoomed in, and I still can’t fully explain it. Some people believe these floating lights are dust particles, bugs, or camera artifacts caused by infrared night vision. Others believe they could be paranormal spirit orbs or unexplained energy.

I’ll let YOU decide.

This video is perfect for anyone interested in:

* Ring camera mysteries
* paranormal footage
* spirit orb sightings
* unexplained garage camera footage
* security camera motion alerts
* ghost orb debates
* infrared camera anomalies
* creepy late-night videos
* strange things caught on camera

One thing that makes this footage unusual is the movement pattern. The objects don’t seem to behave exactly like typical insects flying close to the lens, especially given the timing and motion detection response from the Ring system. Could this simply be bugs triggering the infrared sensor… or is there another explanation?

Watch closely and let me know your theory in the comments.

Do you think these are:
👻 Spirit orbs?
🪰 Insects?
💨 Dust reflections?
📹 Infrared camera artifacts?
❓Something else entirely?

The debate around Ring camera paranormal footage has exploded online over the last few years, and videos like this continue to spark discussion among skeptics and believers alike. Whether you’re into ghost hunting, security camera analysis, unexplained phenomena, or simply weird things caught on video, this footage is definitely worth a closer look.

New plaster care

It’s day five now and I’ve done everything by the book. Water is dialed in now. Chlorine 2 ppm Ph 7.2. Alkaline 80. Calcium 180 and cya 30. Been brushing one to two Times a day and there is just about zero plaster dust. My filter hasn’t even gone up 1 psi yet. Been running the pump at 2500 rpm continuously.

They must have done a good job power washing it
