Bookplate inspired by Dom Manuel II's

Bookplate inspired by Dom Manuel II's

The other day I posted the initial design for my family's coat of arms. After receiving feedbacks from the community I made some adjustments to simplify the design and it turned out better than before in my opinion. To expand on the design, I decided to make a bookplate that is inspired by Manuel II's personal ex libris, who was the last King of Portugal before being deposed during the 1910 revolution. The font used here is Old English font and I just want to use it temporarily since there is no other font that looks exactly like the original bookplate's. In addition to the coat of arms, I also added a crest and a motto that reads "Cheia da Garasa" meaning "Full of Grace" in Portuguese.

Family Coat of Arms Design - Portuguese Style

It's been 2 years since I last dabbled in designing coats of arms, the last one I made from 2 years ago did not really reflect my family history well so I decided to grab a second chance to redesign my family's coat of arms, one that can reflect both my maternal and paternal lineage. I went with Portuguese shield shape and heraldry rules because my ancestors had most ties to that nation. Here is what I came up with:

Tierced per fess, gules, argent and 12 waves azure. In chief tierce, three antique Vietnamese coins argent from Cảnh Thịnh emperor's era. In fess and base tierces, a carrack proper named "Santa Anna" on the waves; there are three roses gules on three sails and a raven sable on the bowsprit.

I am terrible with describing coats of arms in a proper way so there are probably tons of wordings I could improve with the above blazon. There are also characters in this coat of arms, which are frowned upon in traditional Western European heraldry for families but apparently quite common for Iberian heraldry? I haven't seen any Iberian coats of arms with Chinese characters on the shield though, so mine might be stretching that exception bit too far.

Well, that's all I have for now!
