My daughter (13 years old) had a school speech about an industry she would like to work and she loves the idea of working in advanced manufacturing. I would like to foster this but am lost on how to do it.

I have a programming background. Is there a skill you suggest (building robots, 3d printing, or something), an internship she could shoot for around age 16, a tour of a facity, or something like that?

We are in the Chicago area if it matters.
