I’ve been teaching for ten years, but recently I’ve been pushing myself to dig deeper in the texts I read, both those I read with my students and the ones I read for myself. One of the skills I’m practicing is thoughtful annotation and active reading, and I’m curious how you go about managing your thoughts while reading. Do you highlight and write in the margins? Sticky notes? Book tabs/flags? Do you keep a dialectical journal? Another kind of journal? Maybe you use an ereader with annotation or highlighting tools? I don’t know what works for me because I simply don’t have the experience doing it, so I’m hoping to get some good suggestions. Thanks!
