Soooooo I said I’d go and see what’s up. Ended up meeting her mom, daughter, and uncle.
Her mom and her cooked for me and honestly the food wasn’t really my thing — grilled pork neck — but whatever, I tried it, ate it, drank some beer.
I tried giving 10,000 baht as a thank you since she’s been coming over after work, bringing food and drinks, helping me out, etc.
Her mom refused it, and she also said no and wouldn’t take it.
So what’s up with that? Why?
And no, I don’t think it’s some “long game” thing. I’m leaving back to Japan in 2 days. I’m not gonna be texting people overseas or sending money around. It was just meant as appreciation.
Honestly though, what a weird but fun experience. I’ve been all over Asia and never got invited to meet the whole family before. Been to girls’ places before sure, but never the full family cooking together and hanging out haha.
