I wish people would stop publicly addressing weight loss

Just here to vent.

I saw some family for the first time in a while and as soon as I walked in, comments about my weight started rushing in. My family has never been shy talking about weight, whether a family member’s, their own, a stranger on the street, their deli counter guy. Everyone’s. I’ve always hated it but this was the first time MY weight became more than a passing comment (aka grandma saying “oh maybe you shouldn’t get another slice of cake”).

This time it just felt… embarrassing? overwhelming? UPSETTING? I’ve lost 25lbs and have a ways to go, but instead of feeling happy or proud of my loss, I just wanted them to stop talking. For god’s sake it was someone’s graduation. Go congratulate the grad and ask them about their future endeavors. Why am I and my weight loss the main topic of the party? It’s so frustrating and I just wish weight gain/loss wasn’t this weird thing to oooh and aaaah at, like I’m a zoo exhibit.

Ok that’s all for my little spiel, I appreciate y’all on this sub (and tirz).
