Hi everyone,
I’m an incoming freshman majoring in Information Science (Data Science), and I’m looking to buy a laptop before starting school.
Right now, I’m considering these options:
MacBook Air (M5)
Asus Zenbook 14
Microsoft Surface

My budget is around $700–$1,000.

Do you have any recommendations? I’d love to hear what laptops you’re using for data science coursework and whether there are any models I should avoid.

Also, if you have any general advice for a freshman starting in Information Science/Data Science, I’d really appreciate it.
