required to attend voluntary interview 200 miles away
Over Easter while staying with family I was invited to a voluntary interview; I informed the officer that I would be going back to uni soon and couldn't reasonably return so we agreed on a date before my departure, but they cancelled and failed to rearrange in good time. Now I've been invited again and I asked them to move the interview to my area, stressing my circumstances again, but they refused.
I am on the minimum maintenance loan (£4900/yr) with minimal support from family so paying £100 for the train there and back would mean having to skip meals, and I'm also concerned that if I went the appointment or train would get delayed/cancelled and I'd have to do it twice. Rescheduling to the summer is also not an option (can elaborate if necessary but trying not to ramble.)
So now I've found myself in a ridiculous position: either take on an unreasonable burden or risk getting arrested, and I'm wondering if the police actually have the right to do this because it sounds like grounds for unlawful arrest. I'm also autistic and the stress is being made worse by various factors surrounding the case (again trying not to ramble.)
For some background, the offence I'm suspected of is harassment and I'm almost certain this is either a case of "petty nonsense begrudgingly investigated because of requirements" or I'm being blamed for someone else's actions. Also this is in England.
