My sister is going through her own deconstruction process and was sharing her anger and frustrations with Christianity and so forth over the phone. I am so thankful for her and it makes going through my own deconstruction worth it to be there for her. After our conversation I reflexively said “well I love you, and I’m so sorry for the pain you’re going through. I’m praying for you.” I laughed and said “well, not really praying…I don’t know how to describe it” and my sister understood what I meant and laughed too. What phrases have you replaced “I’m praying for you” with since deconstructing? The phrase “sending thoughts your way” doesn’t quite feel the same….not sure if that makes sense to anyone!
