Title, I don't really understand the intricacies of ship building. Till now just having a tech and numbers advantage carried me with auto generated ships (Just corvette swarms) but vs a fallen empire I know that won't work at all

I did a bit of save scumming to test how well I'd do in a war with the Fallen Empire, I did not expect to win just limit test, but I wasn't expecting my fleet to get instantly get obliterated when their ships moved into my system even with the power difference.
