Season 2 Finale: My Take on Mary’s Big Decision
Spoiler alert for anyone who has yet to see the season finale yet. But I wanted to talk a bit more about Mary’s decision to…
…date Fagenbacher.
Now I must say, it’s well within Mary’s right to start dating again. George has been gone two years and as hard as it’s been, it’s good that she’s getting back on her feet again. I think that Joseph one she went on the date with earlier in Season 2 was perfect for her.
But to date Fred Fagenbacher of all people is beyond me. The man who:
- Once dated her son’s mother-in-law
- Actively works to run her son out of business and inadvertently cost Mary her own home
- Tried to sabotage Georgie’s attempts to honor her late husband
Now don’t get me wrong: Georgie is no saint by any means. Pouring bleach into Fagenbacher’s tow trucks was outright illegal and unacceptable. But Mary isn’t even aware of that (yet, and could make for a great plot line), and all she sees is what a horrible person Fagenbacher has been towards her son, who is completely selfless and does everything for everyone else.
I don’t blame Georgie for forbidding her from seeing CeeCee. Some people believe it’s out of character but put yourself in his shoes. His widowed mother wants to date the man who has been vocal about wanting to run her son out of business. If she’s willing to be that naive, why would Georgie ever trust her again, let alone with his daughter?
Just my thoughts. Excited to see this plot line carry over into Season 3. What do you all think?
