Pencil grip

Hello! I am working with a preschool aged child in math. We meet together online and the Mom is just wanting exposure, games, counting….

I cannot see her hand grip when we are online, but the mom sent me a video of some of her successes and she had her fingers and thumb wrapped around a pencil, not a proper grip. From the quick research she’s pretty firmly in the palmar supinate grasp stage.

I know just from my own kids that it’s a developmental process, but I wondered if there are things I can send to Mom to strengthen her daughter’s grip and start supporting her with her grip. As I watched her, it looked like it could be painful if she continued to grasp it that hard and intensely.

I searched for a bit on Google, but I would rather ask those in the profession so I’m sending on correct material. If there are search terms, videos, etc., that would be wonderful.

Thank you.

You guys helped us with sushi a few months ago and we had a great experience.

We are heading back to Iowa City to watch our daughter’s soccer game and visit our son.

We live on a budget so are there economical places that are a good experience we can visit on Monday?

Thank you!

*** Edited to add by good experience I guess we mean good food and clean space. You are right, good experience could mean many things. I say clean space because we used Google a while back for a Mexican restaurant in an unfamiliar city and it was so dirty! So so dirty!
