Why are people bringing their dogs to public roads just to make them poop?
I have been living in Coimbatore for the past 2 years. I work early morning shifts, so I usually leave around 6 AM and walk all the way to my office.
During these walks, one thing I repeatedly notice is people bringing their pet dogs out specifically to make them poop on the roadside and road dividers. Many owners just stand there casually while the dog does its thing in public spaces used by everyone.
What surprises me more is how normal this has become. Nobody reacts to it, nobody questions it, and people continue doing it openly every single morning.
I’m not against pets or dog owners at all. But public roads, sidewalks, and dividers are shared spaces. If someone owns a dog, shouldn’t they also take responsibility for where the dog poops and how it affects others using the area.
For a developing city that talks a lot about cleanliness plans and civic sense nowadays, this is something people should seriously start discussing.
If you have land or private space, let your dog poop there and manage it however you want. Please grow up and show some basic civic sense.
