Front end rattle at speed
For the last few months, I’ve noticed a rattle that seems to be coming from the front, possibly center, of the vehicle. It is NOT in the passenger compartment. It is audible only when either traveling over 70mph or when forward speed combined with strong winds combines to approach that 70mph. There is never any noise going over bumps, even washboard dirt back roads. When the vehicle went in for an oil change, I had my independent garage check for anything loose as this is very obviously something that is being displaced by wind. He said that he has seen a few Toyotas where the hood latch was not secure allowed some play in the hood and he wondered if that was my issue. He found nothing else loose or “flapping in the breeze.” I did notice that, if I pull up on the front left or right edge of the hood, there is maybe 3/16-inch of upward movement.
Has anyone else experienced this type of issue? If anyone with a 2021-24 Venza (mine is a 2021 XLE) would be so kind as to check for that play and maybe snap a pic of their hood latch as my guy thought that there might have been a plastic spacer missing.
Thanks!
