Cooper family dynamics

Isn't it true that whereas Mary struggles to see the perspectives of her children, Georgie's version of being responsible also subjects the women in her life to a version of "protection" that is too simplistic and controlling? Whenever Mary or Mandy do stuff that he has reasons (often good ones) to be against, instead of listening he always takes it as a personal offense and tries to control them.

I say this not to bash Georgie, who we all agree is doing his best as a young man forced to grow up quickly, but to say this is simply what family do for and to each other. Sidenote, it seems like a theme that Mary often makes questionable choices when it comes to her love interests: George Sr. (who Meemaw was initially against), Pastor Rob, Leonard's Dad in TBBT and now potentially Fagenbacher.

The common thread of most Secret Pod discussion between the two is whether structural forces (media and influencers) is the reason for Trump's win (Sarah's view), or that we should assign more agency/blame to voters (JVL's view).

I find it ironic that whereas JVL is in general more open to the Left on policy while Sarah still clings a bit more to her traditional Republican views, the ideologies behind their policy preferences are the exact opposite of their explanations for voting behaviors, i.e. "personal responsibility" associated with Conservatism or "structural forces/societal-wide issues" traditional espoused on the Left.
