How does hantavirus actually spread if the rodents themselves don't get sick?

I was reading about how hantavirus pulmonary syndrome has such a high mortality rate in humans (around 38%), which is terrifying. But what blows my mind is that the rodents carrying it, like deer mice, don't seem to show any symptoms at all. How does their immune system tolerate a virus that is so lethal to us, and what exactly happens when it crosses over into humans?

Anyone else feel trapped in a house they just bought?

My wife and I bought our house back in 2023, and honestly we were pretty proud of ourselves for pulling it off in this market. It’s not a huge place, just 3 bedrooms, one bathroom, and a combined kitchen+living area/ But it felt perfect for us at the time. New community, decent neighbors, woods right behind the development, and still a lot of open land around.

One of my favorite things was waking up early, opening the back door with a coffee in my hand, and seeing trees. It felt quiet… Peaceful... Like we finally escaped the chaos a little bit

Of course, I knew the empty land wasn’t going to stay empty forever. That’s just how development works. I thought they’d eventually build more homes or maybe a small shopping area nearby. Annoying maybe, but manageable.

Instead, they started building a new access road for trucks heading to the commercial zone. So now from sunrise until basically dinner time it’s nonstop noise… dump trucks, backup alarms, heavy machinery and dust everywhere. Some days the whole house rattles like it’s a small earthquake

We haven’t even paid down much of the mortgage yet, not even close. So it feels like we’re stuck at this place. A few neighbors already listed their houses, and a couple sold fast through companies that buy homes for cash because they just wanted out before construction gets worse. One guy down the street mentioned EazyHouseSale gave him an offer within a few days. Lower than market value obviously, but at some point peace and quiet starts sounding worth more than squeezing every dollar out of the place.

The thing is that we have a 3 months old baby. The constant noise and dust made by trucks… this just isn’t the environment we pictured raising our kids in. We dreamed about building our life here, but now it looks like a disaster

working in kindergarten seems harder than people think

been thinking about how difficult kindergarten work probably is, taking care of small kids all day, keeping them safe, handling emotions, noise, parents, and still needing patience the whole time, it looks rewarding but also exhausting mentally and physically, for people who work in kindergarten how do you manage the stress and energy every day?

How to stay more productive during long workdays without completely burning out by afternoon?

I’ve noticed that having a random video, podcast, or even an old TV series playing in the background actually helps me stay focused and stops me from scrolling my phone. You know, like silence makes me restless, but light background noise keeps me sitting still long enough to get through deep work

Another problem is how often I jump between tabs. I’ll be writing or working on something in one window, then constantly switch to another tab, check notes, compare docs, and then I got twenty tabs open and I’m losing my track on what I’ve been doing

Thought about adding a couple of extra screens, but that’s what got me looking into those multi-screen laptops. I saw a new laptop from Xenova while looking for new setups, and the idea of having everything visible at once sounds appealing, especially if we are talking about laptops

Is it actually a productivity boost or if it’s one of those things that sounds great until you spend real money on it?

Has anyone here has tried one for work and whether it genuinely helped with focus or workflow?
